Backerkit lockdown, artwork and sculpts
– Sat, Apr 14, 2018 at 01:23:38 AM
Hi, guys, our pledge manager, Backerkit, is due to lockdown next week. It will lock down on Thursday 19th April at roughly 1pm UK time (I can't give an exact time as it will take a while to process all of the orders).
During the lockdown your debit/credit card will be charged for your add-ons and shipping - this excludes those backers who've already paid in full via Paypal or have already asked to be locked down.
If there's a problem Backerkit will attempt to take payment every 24 hours for a week.
Many banks now have an automated system where they block 'unusual payments' so your payment might be blocked by your bank, this is usually resolved with a quick call to your bank or your bank will send you a text. Once you give the nod Backerkit will take payment on the next round.
After lockdown you won't be able to change your order, however, you can still use your Backerkit link to update your shipping details if you move before fulfilment time. Or you can just email us at [email protected] with your new address and we'll update it for you.
Finally, the pre-order page will stay open for longer for the (very) late backers.
The vast majority have paid upfront but those wishing to use their debit/credit cards now can just drop us a line.
As usual you can email us at info@battlesystems with any problems or queries.
Okay, enough of me being boring, Colin has some nics pics to show you :)
...
Yep its Colin here with a couple of pics to keep your Core Space freighter holds nice and weighty :)
Weapons
First off we have updated all the weapon tokens. These now have all the upgraded icons they require, so you know which are rare, which can be used as an effortless action (more on that another time), which can only be used on the next mission... and so on.
Also, on the reverse of each counter it shows the equipment's full name and value and how much you get when selling it. This mean less looking up numbers on tables and graphs... :) (Boo to tables! - Wayne)
.
Above you can see some new items too like the repair kit, objective and scope tokens along with some of the new Machine only armour options like the Shield Pod and Module upgrades.... amongst others.
Artwork
Lots of artwork coming in now too as we approach some of the deadlines for setting up print sheets. Here are a few familiar faces for the Rule Book and Character Cards.
.
We have many more coming in too as Core Space is so character focused, we just had to have as many as possible. Here's a couple of the above on their new shiny card prototypes :)
.
Sculpts
Finally, let's chat sculpts. They are coming along nicely too and we only have 3 more to go. One of the hardest to bring to life was the Annihilator; you may think that you just pass the drawings to the sculptor and they come back with the finished model. Far from it, there are often many, many stages of feedback and development to go through before the finished article is ready.
We like to share the work behind the scenes when we can so below you can see the Annihilator in progress. It was very hard due to its very unique shape, size and forms of the various body parts.
.
It can take hours to carefully note the changes on sculpts and then hours and days for the sculptor to realise them. I think you will agree that it's worth the time to get it just right. In fact the adjusted one on the right above is not finished, we have made further very minor tweaks to better fit the feel of the Purge design aesthetic.
.
Above are just some of the notes made while on long Skype Video calls with one of our sculptors, sharing screens and generally talking cool mini goodness.
.
Here is a picture of a test print before the minor adjustments, just to get the feel of the Annihilator in the hand.
.
We are proud to work with some very talented sculptors as you have already seen from day one of the KS. They still continue to amaze us with their skills on minis, communication, dedication and timely completion. Can't wait to expand the Core Space universe over the coming years :)
Right, that's far too much Core Space goodness for you!!! It's all too early yet and you might explode from excitement if I give you too many juicy details.
Cheers :)

Deadline extended :)

Hi, guys, as we're not quite ready to hand our print numbers to our manufacturers and we've been getting a lot of requests for an extension we're going to push the lockdown date back for a bit.
That means you have more time to finish the pledge manager and save your readies for any extras.
Those guys who would like their orders locked down and charged now should email us at [email protected] and we'll sort that for you.
We will inform you shortly of the new lockdown date.
Cheers :)

Miniature progress... :)
– Wed, Mar 21, 2018 at 11:48:45 PM
Minis, minis, minis... oh, and we also have some minis...
Well, it's been all about the miniatures for the last few weeks and they've been coming thick and fast. Now we have a few in the hand we thought we'd show you some up close.
We've done a video below so you can have a good look at some of the latest ones, but we also have more... they are currently being painted so did not have them at hand for the video. We do have some renders and photos though so all good :oD
Here's the video look at the ones we do have...
.
So what else have we got that's cool...
First off we have that cool Metropolitan Pack with those hardy folk who scratch a living each day in the Core Space galaxy, never knowing if this will be the day they are swept up by a mindless Harvester or hoodwinked into joining a band of traders on some foolish mission.
Below are the drawings we did while the Kickstarter was running...
.
Then we have them all nicely sculpted and ready for table top tremendousness.
.
The Metropolitan Pack minis are currently being painted up ready for some serious gaming at the UK Games expo in June. We'll show you some nice pictures of those when they come in.
Next we have the Female Galactic Guard. She's sporting the regulation Energy Rifle and holding a riot grenade. This is a snap shot from the 3D software of the finished model.
.
Same again here, but this time the Galactic Guard with Energy Pistol, this one's also in the video above.
.
With a face that looks like he's had one to many visits with the surgeons on Nexu'ak Outpost, Captain Sondar is ready for action in this render below. He's actually happy, but his face is incapable of smiling :)
.
All the weapons in Core Space have been designed by us with a rich lore behind them. They perform in the game based on their design and we've given careful thought to their history, value and availability to the traders of your crews. All of the weapons sculpted on the minis can be found amongst the equipment tokens in the game.
We had the weapons sculpted separately before any of the minis so that they can be handed to our sculptors for the characters to hold. Sondar above is holding a P-11 Military Pistol.
For fun we we took one of the weapons (a machine pistol) and printed it at a much larger scale... looks very nice.
.
This pistol can be found in the hands of many of our minis, from Director Zool to Captain Weis. With 3 combat dice at short range it's one of the few pistols with 3 attack dice that is not a rare item and so can be purchased between missions... if you have the assets to buy it :)
Backerkit Lockdown
Don't forget, Backerkit locks down on Saturday 31st March. We'll post a reminder before then.
Pre-order Backers
Late backers can now jump in using our handy dandy pre-order page (if you're already a backer/late backer just use the link already provided).
All the sets and add-ons cost the same as regular backing including the shipping and all the free stretch goals are included if you get a Core set:
For those of you who are regular visitors to our shows we should let you know that we will not be attending one of them. This year we decided not to exhibit at Salute for two reasons. Firstly, the stand size has become too small for our ever increasing range (we will try to attend next year providing we can grab a larger stand size).
Also, with Core Space being a new venture incorporating new production challenges we thought we could use the 3 weeks of preparation time more wisely and it's paying off well so far :oD
We will be at the UK Games Expo as usual on the first weekend in June. There we will be demonstrating Core Space so if you can make the show come over for a game or two... or three ... we'll have the largest stand we have ever had so it should be a blast :)
.
That's about it for now, time to jump back into the pre-production emails and Skype videos that dominate this stage of the process and of course... play some games of Core Space...
Over and out for now...
Colin & Wayne :)
Backerkit invites sent :)
– Tue, Mar 06, 2018 at 01:10:56 PM
Hi, guys, all the invites to our Backerkit pledge manager have now been sent. If you haven't received yours please check your junk folder, it's probably hiding in there. If it's not just email us at [email protected] and we'll send you a direct link instead.
Also, if your pledge failed for any reason during the Kickstarter it would have been cancelled but if you want back in you can still join as a late backer. Speaking of which...
BACKERKIT PRE-ORDER PAGE
Normally we manually add late backers but we've now got this spanky new automated system. If you know anyone who wants to be a late backer and we haven't already set them up just point them to this link:
The lockdown date is Saturday 31st March which is when your debit/credit card will be charged for shipping and add-ons (Paypal payments are instantaneous).
Any problems just drop us a line at [email protected] and we'll sort it out.
Cheers :)

Backerkit Pledge Manager
– Thu, Mar 01, 2018 at 04:45:53 PM
Hi, guys, we're now rolling out the pledge manager invites. As from today we will start sending out the invites in batches. It will take a few days so don't worry if all your mates have their invites and you don't, we will get to you!
How Backerkit Works
You'll receive an email inviting you to fill out your pledge manager.
If you pledged for a Core set or a Titan (indicated by the amount you pledged) it will be included in your survey.
Choose the add-ons you want, if any.
Give us your shipping details.
Finally you can pay the balance (what you owe us) using a credit/debit card or Paypal. Please note that credit/debit cards will be charged on the lockdown date but Paypal will be charged instantly.
Backerkit will stay open for 4 weeks with the deadline being Saturday 31st March 2018. Backerkit will then be locked down and card payments taken (as noted above those who opt to use Paypal will be charged on completing their pledge manager instead of at the deadline).
If you have a problem (your pay day is on the wrong side of the deadline, etc) just drop us a line at [email protected]
Similarly if you want to pay ahead of the deadline that's fine too, just email us.
Post KS Backers and £0 Backers
Post KS (late) backers please note that there's no pledge level as such you just choose the appropriate sets as add-ons. (We will also have an automated webpage for really late backers, more on that in the next update).
£0 backers (those who just threw some sheckels in to help us out) can still jump in as late backers, just fill in the pledge manager. If you don't want to buy anything and the automatic updates keep filling up your inbox just email us and we'll take you off the list. Please also note that if you're not buying add-ons you can just ignore the automatic shipping charges, we won't chase you up on those (but the automatic emails might, again email us).
So, in short, Backerkit is super easy to use but any problems, queries or quibbles just drop us an email at [email protected] and we'll sort it out.
